Snow & Bad Weather Statement

During periods of  snow or bad weather, the decision of whether to remain open or close the school will be taken as quickly as possible bearing in mind the school’s aim of keeping the school open whenever possible. We shall endeavour to make any decisions on the closure of the school by 7.45am, with notifications to be sent out via a text message and the Sims app as soon as possible thereafter.

In the event of closure we will send a group text and a notification via the Sims app. It is therefore important that parents/carers keep the Academy up to date with their mobile phone numbers and download the free Sims app.

We will also post a notice on the homepage of our website http://bca.warrington.ac.uk/ as well as on our Twitter and Facebook sites.  Warrington Council also post a list of school closures on their website.  We will inform the local radio station Wire FM who will announce a list of school closures in the region.

In the event of heavy snow fall or other severe weather conditions during the school day that causes us to be concerned about children’s welfare in relation to returning home, we will follow the procedure outlined above. It is important that parents keep the academy up to date with their email address.

It is always difficult to make the right decision due to the unpredictability of the weather, we will aim to do this as swiftly as we can. Please rest assured that any decisions taken will be based around ensuring that your children are kept as safe as possible.

In the event of a school closure remote learning can be accessed via Google Classroom.
