BCA World Book Day

World Book Day

YOUNGSTERS from primary schools across town have visited Beamont Collegiate Academy as part of World Book Day celebrations. Authors Jon Mayhew and Cathy Cassidy dropped into the Long Lane school with pupils from nearby primary schools as part of festivities.

Unique TCAT academy trust approved

THE town’s newest academy trust will be responsible for 6,000 children and 900 staff at eight Warrington schools.

Plans for Priestley College, Penketh High, Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High, Beamont Collegiate Academy, Bridgewater High, Great Sankey Primary and Penketh South Primary schools to team up have been approved by the government.

And all eyes are on Warrington as The Challenge Academy Trust becomes one of the biggest and most inclusive trusts in the country.

It is among the first to include a faith school, sixth form college and primary schools but head teachers have said there will be no feeder schools, meaning pupils at schools in the trust will not be given priority for places. please click here to continue reading

Laura Hughes, Year 8 receives recognition from the High Sherriff!

Laura Hughes, Year 8 receives recognition from the High Sherriff!

We were delighted to hear that Laura Hughes in Year 8 has been awarded an amazing accolade.  Laura received recognition from The High Sheriff of Cheshire in recognition of her service in the community.

Through her local scout group 1/14th based in Orford, Laura has contributed to some very worthwhile causes within the community. Last summer, her Scout group worked together to clear war graves at Warrington Cemetery in conjunction with the War Graves Commission.

Laura then participated in a Somme Centenary service which was attended by some very special guests including The High sheriff of Cheshire Mrs Kathy Cowell, Warrington Mayor Cllr Faisal Rashid, a Standard Bearer from the Royal British Legion and a bugler from the Cheshire police band.

On hearing of this amazing work the High Sheriff chose to recognise two Scouts who had contributed significant time and effort to supporting the War Graves Commission. Each year  the High Sheriff’s celebrates and rewards those who have contributed great and valuable services to the community.

Laura was nominated along with a fellow Scout Rosie by virtue of the effort they invested and for their commitment to the cause. As a result they both received their awards last week at an evening hosted by The High Sheriff at Churchill House, University of Chester

We are so very proud of Laura and her amazing achievements. Well done from everybody here at BCA!
