Religious Studies Curriculum Intent
The aim of the RS curriculum at BCA is to give students a grounding in the major faiths of their local community and the UK. A sound knowledge of elements of Theology, Ethics and Philosophy will allow students to think critically about the world in which they live, be tolerant and understanding and thus be empathetic members of society.
The curriculum is sequenced to allow students to make links and see commonalities between the different faiths and worldviews they encounter, whilst also giving them the opportunity, skills and vocabulary needed to effectively explore and analyse beliefs and practises.
The curriculum is engaging and challenging in such a way that a curiosity about the beliefs and lives of others is fostered and developed, as well as encouraging reflection on students’ own beliefs and spirituality and their place in the world.
