As the Principal of Beamont Collegiate Academy I’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website that will hopefully give you a sense of life at the academy.
At Beamont Collegiate Academy students are expected to show dedication and commitment to their studies. In return the academy provides fantastic academic, creative, sporting and personal education experiences. Our curriculum provides students with a wide range of academic and vocational qualifications that are supported with links to a number of partners from higher education and industry.
Teaching and learning is the core business of the academy and we invest vast amounts of time in improving teachers’ classroom practice so that students continue to have a learning experience that is rooted in research based evidence. To put it simply we want teachers to use teaching strategies that work. To facilitate this we ensure that teachers have at least one hour a week professional development. This takes place each Friday morning when the students start one hour later than usual. This weekly development time for teachers allows them to collaborate and plan together to ensure their teaching is always of the highest quality.
If you haven’t visited the academy I would encourage you do so. In 2016 we moved in to a brand new building with state of the art facilities for art and performance, engineering and sport. It is a truly inspiring environment in which to learn.
As well as the challenges and opportunities our day to day academic curriculum provides we are also very proud of our programme of enrichment that takes place as part of our extended school day on Wednesday. During this time you’ll find students engaged in a great array of activities including horse riding, drone flying, first aid training, learning British Sign Language to name but a few. It’s a real unique feature of life at Beamont!
Finally, the vision here at Beamont Collegiate Academy is clear: we are a school that has high expectations of all that work and learn here. We are a school in which young people can thrive as a result of the high quality teaching they receive and the huge range of additional opportunities available to them. We are a school that is committed to improving the lives of the young people of Orford and the local area
